I'm Tuomas, I'm twentysomething and I am an IT student in Tampere University of Technology. Occasionally I live with this wonderful girl Laura, who is also twentysomething, a student, and with whom I keep Samppa. I usually write long and complicated sentences that do not seem to have any end - or actual point, but anyway, in this blog I write (in Finnish) about (having) a Sealyham Terrier called Samppa. I also sometimes write about my viewpoints on those current news that somehow are related to dogs.
I'm so proud of Samppa because he's my first dog and he's also so smart and cute and awesome, but let me start from the beginning:

A litter of Six-Pack Stella Artois was born on 26th of February 2007. The Academy Awards of that year took place on February 25th[wiki], so the puppies were named after Hollywood stars. Samppa was named after Samuel L. Jackson.

Me and Laura were going to go to South Korea as exchange students at the end of August in 2008. We were quite certain that we would not get a dog not until we would share an apartment - or at least not before we had come back from Korea.
Laura had taken me to see the litter a couple of times in the summer of 2007 before they were given their new homes. However, due to some health issues at Samppa's new home the breeders had to get Samppa back after a year, in summer of 2008. The breeders soon began to look for a new caring family for Samppa.
The Breeders went to Wales for a week and they trusted us with Samppa while they were gone. One week with barely-a-year-old, clever and charming puppy was enough for us to decide that we would keep Samppa - probably this was just a breeder's cunning plan.
Checking out some local mud puddles (22.8.2008)
We soon began going to conformation shows (see Samppa's most awesomest show map), and before we went to Korea, Samppa had got three BOB's and even one BOG-4 from four shows already. While we were at Korea, Samppa lived with his brother Oscar and two other dogs at Laura's parents' home.
Oscar, Samppa and Natalia the Bouvier (10.8.2008)
Thanks to breeder's guidance, grooming and great help, Samppa evolved from unkempt, ill-groomed furball to a Finnish Winner 2008 title winning conformation show canine in less than a half a year. Three months later, at which point e also had come back from Korea, Samppa became Finnish Champion at Tampere.
Starting from the successful Tampere show Samppa participated to thirteen shows of which five were held outside Finland (once in Estonia, Austria and Slovakia and two times in Hungary). Including the titles mentioned before, Samppa is now currently World Champion (official entry pending), Champion in Finland and Estonia, Finnish Winner 2008, Nordic and Baltic Winner 2009 and Austrian Bundessieger 2009.

In addition to touring in shows we also have fun with Samppa by walking in forest trails, taking him to play with other dogs in dog parks and by teaching some tricks, like dancing. We also often take him with us when we're going somewhere or just spending time with our friends.
Currently, as mentioned before, I am studying in Tampere and Laura is doing her studies' final work in Rauma. I live in a dormitory with two other guys (we do have at least separate rooms, not like in Korea where I shared a single room with a Polish guy, who actually was very nice) and basically pets are not allowed here so Samppa is staying with Laura in Rauma for now. I should be getting an own apartment in a month or two though.
We don't have any specific plans for dog shows in Finland for this year yet but we do have some plans to go to Norway and Sweden with Samppa to get some more titles for him. Unfortunately, since travelling with a dog is rather expensive for poor students, we'll have to wait and see what financial situation is nearer the summer.
Samppa being awesome in many places at the same time (7.11.2009)
For those who are interested, below is Samppa's pedigree with grandparents up to fourth generation. More precise pedigree and other official statistics are at KoiraNet breeding database (currently available in Finnish only though).
That's all for now. I might be making more English posts if something remarkable happens, thank you for reading this far. Meanwhile, more photos of Samppa can be seen, as mentioned on the right below the blog title picture, by browsing entries with kuvat-tag
